Elizabeth "Beth" Lykins is a native of Indiana, born in November, 1969. She has an M.S. in Media Arts and Science from Indiana University, a B.A. in Art, with a Ceramics focus, from Earlham College, and has started working toward an MA in Art Therapy at Saint Mary of the Woods College.
Beth is relocating to the Santa Fe, New Mexico area in the summer of 2015 to pursue her dream of becoming an art therapist, artist, and spiritual seeker/teacher while living off grid in harmony with the Earth. To facilitate this transition, Beth has resigned her position as Lecturer in Media Arts and Science, effective May 31, 2015, and she has recently withdrawn from the MAAT program at SMWC. She hopes to continue her studies in art therapy at Southwestern College in Santa Fe, starting in September, 2015.
She is also searching for property in the countryside outside Santa Fe where she, her husband, and their many animals can live in accordance with their "off the map" beliefs and practice their commitments to sustainable living, creativity, art, music, and spirituality, as well as deepen their partnership with Mother Earth.
The first steps she and her husband took to solving the puzzle of housing on their new adventure was to obtain a 23' 1979 Prowler travel trailer to live in while they search for a steel shipping container to add to the site and investigate erecting a traditional Mongolian yurt. In the long term, they hope to help others find their own spiritual paths through creativity and living lightly with the Earth using lessons they have learned on their own journeys, and conducting workshops and private lessons. Beth hopes to also offer spiritual retreat space to her fellow seekers as well as art classes and art therapy sessions. Her husband hopes to offer music and sustainability lessons to those interested in such things. Their chickens hope any visitors will bring treats!
